MG Hector powertrains: common questions

How many powertrains is the MG Hector sold with?
2: Petrol manual, Petrol CVT. The cheapest way into the range is the Style 1.5 Turbo Petrol MT at ₹12,14,000 ex-showroom, and the dearest entry point is the Smart Pro 1.5 Turbo Petrol CVT at ₹17,14,800.
On the MG Hector, does changing powertrain change the equipment?
Yes on the Smart Pro. Going from the Smart Pro 1.5 Turbo Petrol MT to the Smart Pro 1.5 Turbo Petrol CVT adds Electronic Parking Brake with Auto Hold, Multiple Drive Modes, which we value at ₹21,000 against a price gap of ₹1,20,000.

What this car's data leaves out

Left out: the seven-seater, which MG sells as the Hector Plus, the Blackstorm and Snowstorm appearance editions, dual-tone paint, and the six-seater, which the price list does not price. No certified fuel-efficiency figure is shown, because MG publishes a range rather than one figure per gearbox.

Data notes — where these figures come from

FIVE-SEATER ONLY. MG's own FAQ, read 8 Oct 2026, says the Hector is offered as a five-seater and the Hector Plus provides the seven-seater. We hold the seven five-seater cards: Style MT, Select Pro MT, Smart Pro MT, Smart Pro CVT, Sharp Pro MT, Sharp Pro CVT and Savvy Pro CVT. EXCLUSIONS. Blackstorm and Snowstorm are not on the 8 Oct price cards and are not columns in the July brochure. MG launched those two limited-run editions on 7 Oct 2026; no MG price card carries them, so no figure is stored. Dual-tone exterior is ₹20,000 extra on the brochure's price list and is paint. The six-seater is named in the brochure and its captain seats are marked '6 Seater Only' under Hector Plus features, but the price list leaves Sharp Pro (O) as dashes and prices no six-seater, so it is left out. Diesel is not on sale: the model-page FAQ names only the 1.5-litre turbo petrol with a 6-speed manual and a CVT. The page FAQ's mention of manual and CVT options overstates the priced set: Style and Select Pro are manual only, and Savvy Pro is CVT only. The cards settle it. The key-spec widgets that list manual and CVT under every grade are generic and were not read as a variant list. PRICES. The July brochure price list (effective 1 July 2026) is ₹15,000 below the 8 Oct cards on all seven five-seaters. The Sharp Pro CVT seven-seater is in neither file. The brochure lists ₹19,09,800 and the live card lists ₹20,14,800, and adding the ₹15,000 the other cards rose would make ₹19,24,800, which no MG source prints. The Hector Plus note records that omission. The page's EMI widget and the embedded videos still say from ₹11,99,000, which is the July brochure base, and that figure is not stored. NO MANUFACTURER GRADE WALK. The brochure is a five-column grid (Style, Select Pro, Smart Pro, Sharp Pro, Savvy Pro), not an 'X over Y' parent chain, so frequentlyComparedPairs is empty. Filling it from price order would publish pairs that skip a grade. EQUIPMENT is read from that grid. Complementary rows were checked before the columns were trusted: fabric against leatherette partitions the seat row, and the steel-wheel row against the two alloy rows partitions the wheel row. The seven-seater is a separate model, so this page does not repeat a grade for a third row. Hector Plus-only rows (captain seats, a third-row USB port, second-row slide, a third-row split, third-row air conditioning, Urban Tan interior) are not registry features and are not credited here. GEARBOX-QUALIFIED CELLS, honoured per variant. Electric Parking Brake is 'O (CVT)' on Smart Pro, Sharp Pro and Savvy Pro, and the row does not also print auto hold. Drive Mode Select (Eco, Normal, Sports) is marked CVT on those three grades and is credited as drive modes only, not as terrain traction modes. Telescopic steering is 'MT' on Sharp Pro and unmarked-present on Savvy Pro, so the Sharp Pro CVT does not get it. Savvy Pro's cruise-control cell reads 'ACC' rather than a dash, so cruise control stays credited alongside the Level 2 suite. UNDER-CREDITED, because the brochure's words are narrower than the registry entry. Tyre-pressure monitoring is named, and a later row is only 'Critical Tyre Pressure Voice Alert', which is not an individual per-tyre readout on the cluster. Ambient lighting is '8 Colour ambient lighting with commands' with no statement that it runs across the dashboard and the doors. The 14-inch (35.56 cm) screen is credited at the 12.3-inch tier, the nearest tier at or below it. The 6-way powered driver's seat is credited at the 4-way tier, which the registry defines as powered fore-aft and recline, and not as the 8-way seat. The 17.78 cm cluster is exactly 7.00 inches and is the 7-inch tier, not the 10.25-inch one. Style's projector headlamps are printed HALOGEN, so they earn neither LED headlamp tier, and from Select Pro the printed phrase is 'Projector Headlamps LED', which is the projector tier and not the full-LED unit with integrated DRLs (LED DRLs are a separate row on every grade, including Style). Head-unit air-conditioning controls are not automatic climate control, which the brochure marks 'With Auto AC' on Sharp Pro and Savvy Pro only, and they are not a separate climate touch display. Smart Pro has the amplifier and subwoofer row but the Infinity by Harman cell is a dash, so the branded sound system is Sharp Pro and Savvy Pro only. Door-armrest and dashboard leatherette is printed on every grade, including Style, and is trim wrap rather than seat upholstery: seats are Fabric on Style and Select Pro and leatherette with fabric inserts from Smart Pro. Connected tail lamps are credited from Select Pro on the brochure's own phrase 'LED Blade Connected Tail Lights', which is narrower than the registry's edge-to-edge lightbar. Level 2 ADAS is credited on Savvy Pro only. The brochure's 'AUTONOMOUS LEVEL 2 PACK' lists adaptive cruise, traffic-jam assist, lane-keep assist and automatic emergency braking on that column alone. The pack does not print the words 'Stop & Go'; traffic-jam assist is the stop-and-go function the column does name. Connected-car technology is credited from Smart Pro on the standard rows (remote lock and unlock, Find My Car, geo-fence, e-call). The brochure's own footnote marks remote air-conditioning and live location sharing as a paid subscription, which is the hardware-only reading the registry already states. NOT STORED: a fuel-efficiency figure. The brochure's specification page prints power, torque and displacement and no kmpl. The model-page FAQ gives one ARAI range, 12.40 to 13.94 kmpl, depending on manual or CVT, which is not one certified figure per gearbox, so it is not stored. WIRELESS ANDROID AUTO (9 Oct 2026): MG's brochure (MG Hector - Brochure.pdf, July 2026, page 32) marks 'Wireless Android Auto + Apple Carplay' on every Pro trim and not on Style. REVERSING CAMERA (re-read 29 Oct 2026): the maker describes the camera without saying its guidelines move with the steering, so the camera entry (moving guidelines) is not credited.
