Volkswagen Virtus powertrains: common questions

How many powertrains is the Volkswagen Virtus sold with?
3: Petrol manual, Petrol automatic, Petrol DSG. The cheapest way into the range is the Comfortline 1.0 Turbo Petrol MT at ₹10,70,900 ex-showroom, and the dearest entry point is the GT Plus 1.5 Turbo Petrol DSG at ₹18,84,900.
On the Volkswagen Virtus, does changing powertrain change the equipment?
Yes on the Highline. Going from the Highline 1.0 Turbo Petrol MT to the Highline 1.0 Turbo Petrol AT adds Steering Mounted Paddle Shifters, which we value at ₹9,000 against a price gap of ₹1,20,000.
What mileage does each Volkswagen Virtus powertrain claim?
Petrol manual: 20.19 kmpl; Petrol automatic: 18.7 kmpl; Petrol DSG: 19.62 kmpl. These are the manufacturer's certified figures, not our own, and CNG is certified per kilogram rather than per litre — the two numbers are not comparable directly.

What this car's data leaves out

Every trim and powertrain Volkswagen builds, less the GT Plus Sport Anniversary Edition, which is an appearance edition. We do not credit the reversing camera (its guidelines are static), the tyre-pressure system or the sound package — see the data notes.

Data notes — where these figures come from

EXCLUSIONS: the GT Plus Sport Anniversary Edition, an appearance edition priced identically to the GT Plus Sport, which is an agreed exclusion. All 11 remaining variants are here. Every cell was read from Volkswagen's brochure (virtus-brochure.pdf, revised February 2026), pages 10 to 14, rendered and read cell by cell; re-read in full on 29 Oct 2026. Volkswagen qualifies two rows '(AT only)' — hill start assist and the paddle shifters, on Highline, Highline Plus and GT Line — and both are honoured per variant rather than per trim. ESC, ABS and EBD are one row ticked on all seven trims (brochure p.12), so stability control is credited on all 11 since the entry stopped requiring hill start (29 Oct 2026). NOT CREDITED, each because Volkswagen's own wording is narrower than our entry: the reversing camera has static guidelines, so the camera entry (moving guidelines) is not credited; the tyre-pressure system is a deflation warning, not a per-tyre readout; the 'digital sound package with amplifier and subwoofer' names no audio brand; the LED tail lamps are not described as connected; the ambient lighting — LEDs for the door switches and reading lamps on every trim, white ambient lights on Highline to Topline and laser red on the GT trims — is not said to run across the dashboard and doors; the Climatronic is a touch panel, not a stated separate display; the 'electrically folding door mirrors' (Highline Plus up) are not said to fold by themselves when the car is locked; the GT Line's fabric-and-leatherette seats are not leatherette, which starts at the Topline; MyVolkswagen Connect is marked Optional on Highline, Highline Plus and GT Line, so connected-car tech is credited only on Topline and the GT Plus trims. REAR POWER WINDOWS: the brochure has no row for them (only the driver's auto up/down), so they are credited on all 11 from a second source that lists front and rear power windows on every trim, the same treatment the Honda Elevate's matrix got. MAPPING: the 25.65 cm (10.1-inch) VW Play screen sits at our 9-inch level and the 17.78 cm (7-inch) Comfortline screen at the 7-inch level; the 20.32 cm (8-inch) digital cockpit sits at the 7-inch cluster level; the electric front seats state no way-count, so they take the 4- or 6-way level; 'Height and Reach Adjustable steering wheel' on every trim earns tilt and telescopic steering; KESSY (keyless entry, start and exit) earns the smart key from Highline Plus. No ADAS, 360-degree camera, electronic parking brake or front parking sensors on any trim; the rear brakes are drums throughout. Wireless Android Auto: '(Wireless 1) App-Connect with Android Auto, Apple CarPlay' on every trim but the Comfortline.
