Kia Sonet: which powertrain?

The Kia Sonet is sold as 5 separate ranges. Pick a trim and this shows what each powertrain costs at that trim, and whether the gearbox brings any equipment with it.

What it costs to run

Fuel only — change any figure to your own

Prices are Delhi's, read 2026-11-04. Fuel duty is set per state, so they are the state's figure rather than Delhi's.

Variantkm/lFuel, a year
HTE(O) 1.2 Petrol MT· no certified figure—
HTE(O) 1.5 Diesel MT· no certified figure—
HTE(O) 1.5 Diesel AT· no certified figure—

Fuel only. It does not price servicing, insurance, tyres or what the Kia Sonet is worth when you sell it — a diesel usually costs more to maintain, and we publish no figure for that rather than estimate one. 3 of these variants have no certified efficiency, so type your own to see a cost.

Trim by trim

Each block is one trim level. The cheapest powertrain at that trim is the baseline; every other is shown as what it costs over it.

Kia Sonet powertrains: common questions

How many powertrains is the Kia Sonet sold with?
5: Petrol manual, Petrol iMT, Diesel manual, Diesel automatic, Petrol DCT. The cheapest way into the range is the HTE 1.2 Petrol MT at ₹7,44,900 ex-showroom, and the dearest entry point is the HTK(O) 1.0 Turbo Petrol DCT at ₹9,99,900.
On the Kia Sonet, does changing powertrain change the equipment?
Not on the HTE(O), which is sold as both the HTE(O) 1.2 Petrol MT and the HTE(O) 1.5 Diesel MT with identical equipment. The ₹1,41,000 between them buys the powertrain and nothing else.

What this car's data leaves out

Every trim and powertrain Kia prices - 22 variants across five engine-and-gearbox combinations. The X Line is left out as an appearance edition and the plain HTK has no published price, and no certified fuel-efficiency figure is stored because neither source publishes one.

Data notes — where these figures come from

Five ladders: 1.2 petrol manual, 1.0 turbo petrol on Kia's clutchless iMT and on the 7-speed DCT, and the 1.5 diesel as manual and torque-converter automatic. Kia's compare page never qualifies a row by gearbox, which is the trap CLAUDE.md records against it. Paddle shifters are marked on HTX and GTX+ flat, and are credited only to the automatics - the DCT and the diesel AT - not to the HTX diesel manual or the iMT. ADAS is deliberately not credited. Kia's row reads "ADAS Level-1 with 10 Autonomous Features", and the registry entry is a Level 2 suite defined as including adaptive cruise with stop and go. A Level 1 system is not that, so the GTX+ is under-credited rather than credited with a tier it does not have. Also left uncredited for what the document actually says: Kia names the headlamps "Halogen MFR" on everything below HTK+(O), so no LED headlamp rung is earned there; the steering is "Tilt Steering" with no telescopic adjustment, and the registry entry needs both; the instrument cluster below GTX+ is a 4.2-inch colour MID, which sits below the lowest digital-cluster rung; and the seats on HTE through HTK+ are semi-leatherette, so full leatherette is credited only from HTK+(O) up. Kia's specifications page mentions a rear door sunshade curtain that the compare matrix has no row for, so it is not credited either. Kia's "(O)" is an options pack on this car rather than a rung, and the engine decides that per car from the data rather than from the name. The tell is a single row: Kia marks "DashCam with Dual Camera" on HTK+(O) and on nothing else, so the step out of HTK+(O) into the dearer HTX really does give the dashcam up. That is the same shape as the Seltos's HTX(A) ADAS pack, so the packed variants sit on their own branch and each one is also paired against the trim it is fitted to. The two other apparent losses on that walk are ladder climbs and fold away correctly - keyless entry into smart key with push-button start, and styled steel wheels into 16-inch alloys. EFFICIENCY (12 Oct 2026): none stored. REVERSING CAMERA (re-read 29 Oct 2026): the maker describes the camera without saying its guidelines move with the steering, so the camera entry (moving guidelines) is not credited. 29 Oct 2026, Kia's specs page: 'Traction modes - Sand / Mud / Wet (Automatic Only)' and 'Multi drive modes … (AT/DCT)', so the HTX diesel manual carries neither.
