Mahindra Bolero

Mahindra's long-running body-on-frame utility SUV: a 1.5 mHawk75 diesel with a manual gearbox, seven seats in a 5+2 layout with side-facing third-row seats, under four metres long, in four trims from B4 to B8. It is a separate model from the Bolero Neo, with its own engine and body.

Which variant to buy

Where the money buys the most equipment, and where it buys the least

No variant on the Mahindra Bolero is covered outright by the equipment it adds — the best of them reaches 95%. Here is that variant and the weakest one, both computed from the same feature valuations.

This is not a recommendation of a trim — it is the variant whose price rise our tracked equipment best explains, and the one it explains worst. A feature you will never use is worth nothing to you, whatever we value it at. Every upgrade, in order.

Mahindra Bolero: questions buyers ask

Which Mahindra Bolero variant is the best value?

B6(O) 1.5 Diesel MT to B8 1.5 Diesel MT costs ₹29,999, and the equipment it adds is worth ₹28,520 — 95% of the price rise. That is the variant upgrade where equipment explains the most of what you pay. No variant on this car is covered outright by the equipment it adds, so this is the closest it gets. The figure is computed from the feature difference, not chosen.

Which Mahindra Bolero variant gives back the least?

B6 1.5 Diesel MT to B6(O) 1.5 Diesel MT costs ₹32,000, and the equipment it adds is worth ₹4,600 — 14% of the price rise. The rest of that money goes on things we do not itemise — materials, fit and finish, and the manufacturer's own margin.

How many variants does the Mahindra Bolero have?

4, across 1 powertrain, from ₹8,56,999 to ₹9,98,999 ex-showroom. All four variants Mahindra prices: B4, B6, B6(O) and B8. Mahindra publishes no certified efficiency figure for this car, so none is shown.

What is the EMI on the Mahindra Bolero?

About ₹16,237 a month for the cheapest variant, B4 1.5 Diesel MT: ₹9,83,479 on the road in Delhi, 20% down, and a loan of ₹7,86,783 at 8.75% a year for 5 years. A different rate, tenure or down payment changes it — the EMI calculator works it out for your own figures.

What are the Mahindra Bolero's dimensions, boot space and ground clearance?

It is 3,995 mm long, 1,745 mm wide and 1,880 mm tall, on a 2,680 mm wheelbase. We hold no ground clearance figure from Mahindra's own documents. The fuel tank holds 60 litres. These are Mahindra's own figures.

When was the Mahindra Bolero launched?

The Mahindra Bolero on sale now, the first generation, was launched in India in 2000. It was last facelifted in Oct 2025: New grille, front fog lamps, diamond-cut 15-inch alloys, a 17.8 cm touchscreen, RideFlo ride-and-handling tuning and a new top B8 trim. Engine unchanged.

Is a new Mahindra Bolero or a facelift coming?

Mahindra has announced nothing, and we found no credible reports of one as of 1 Nov 2026.

What colours does the Mahindra Bolero come in?

Mahindra lists 4 colours: Stealth Black, Diamond White, DSAT Silver, Rocky Beige. Not every colour is offered on every variant.

What is the Mahindra Bolero's safety rating?

There is no Bharat NCAP or Global NCAP rating for the Mahindra Bolero as it is sold now. The published results are for an earlier version or an older test protocol.

What is the on-road price of the Mahindra Bolero?

The cheapest variant, B4 1.5 Diesel MT, comes to about ₹9,83,479 on road in Delhi — ₹8,56,999 ex-showroom plus road tax, insurance, registration and TCS where it applies. Road tax is set by the state, so the total moves by a lakh or more between them.

How we checked these figures

Data notes — where these figures come from

CORRECTED 18 Oct 2026 from Mahindra's own per-variant specification pages (auto.mahindra.com, "View all specifications"): they tick rear power windows on B6, B6(O) and B8, which settles the brochure's unqualified "Power Windows", and wheel covers on B6 and B6(O), which settles its "Wheel Caps". Every trim has a rear centre armrest: Mahindra's spec pages tick it on all four, and a second published source agrees. B4, B6, B6(O) AND B8, all on the one 1.5 diesel manual. the B6(O) and B8 have a rear wash and wiper but the brochure lists no rear defogger (its 'Demister' is the front screen), so neither rear-screen entry is credited; the 'Digital Cluster' on the B6(O) and B8 is, on the brochure's own photograph (page 8), a segmented LCD strip rather than a TFT display, so it is not credited at the 7-inch digital cluster rung - which leaves the B6 to B6(O) step buying fog lamps alone in our valuation. The 17.8 cm touchscreen (B6 up) is 7.0 inches and is credited at the 7-inch rung, though the brochure does not say whether it carries smartphone mirroring. Dual airbags, ABS with EBD and reverse parking sensors are standard; there is no ESC. Static bending headlamps, engine start-stop, the remote fuel-lid opener and the bottle holders are not registry features. SEGMENT CALL: sub_compact_suv, because it is a sub-four-metre SUV by Mahindra's own filing and that is where its price rivals sit; flagged for the owner, since its 5+2 seating is MPV-like. WIRELESS ANDROID AUTO (9 Oct 2026): not credited on any variant. Mahindra's brochure (BoleroBrochure_220926.pdf) names no smartphone projection at all.
