The Maruti Grand Vitara is sold as 4 separate ranges. Pick a trim and this shows what each powertrain costs at that trim, and whether the gearbox brings any equipment with it.

Maruti Grand Vitara powertrains: common questions

How many powertrains is the Maruti Grand Vitara sold with?
4: Petrol manual, Petrol automatic, Hybrid CVT, Petrol automatic 4WD. The cheapest way into the range is the Sigma 1.5 Mild Hybrid MT at ₹10,76,500 ex-showroom, and the dearest entry point is the Alpha ALLGRIP 1.5 Mild Hybrid AT at ₹18,04,700.
On the Maruti Grand Vitara, does changing powertrain change the equipment?
Yes on the Delta. Going from the Delta 1.5 Mild Hybrid MT to the Delta 1.5 Mild Hybrid AT adds Steering Mounted Paddle Shifters, Electronic Parking Brake with Auto Hold, which we value at ₹23,000 against a price gap of ₹1,35,000.
What mileage does each Maruti Grand Vitara powertrain claim?
Petrol manual: 21.11 kmpl; Petrol automatic: 20.58 kmpl; Hybrid CVT: 27.97 kmpl; Petrol automatic 4WD: 19.2 kmpl. These are the manufacturer's certified figures, not our own, and CNG is certified per kilogram rather than per litre — the two numbers are not comparable directly.

What this car's data leaves out

Left out: the dual-tone paint versions, and the naturally aspirated CNG that has no column anywhere in Maruti's brochure. The panoramic sunroof comes only on the (O) variants.

Data notes — where these figures come from

The 1.5 mild-hybrid petrol in manual and torque-converter automatic across Sigma, Delta, Zeta and Alpha, and the 1.5 strong hybrid e-CVT on Delta+, Zeta+ and Alpha+. Four families are left out. Dual-tone paint versions are treated as paint. NEXA's active list now prices a Delta CNG and a Zeta CNG, but the 11 June 2026 brochure still has no CNG column and no engine figures for it, so both stay out rather than being given the petrol's equipment. Rebuilt from the brochure on 18 Sept 2026, which added 76 credits the earlier pass had left blank and removed none: four-wheel discs, the front sliding armrest and rear centre armrest, rear power windows, the driver’s seat height adjuster, paddle shifters on the three torque-converter automatics, ambient lighting, the PM2.5 cabin purifier, the Clarion premium audio, the eight-way powered driver’s seat on both Alphas, and the ECO/Normal/Power drive modes on the three strong hybrids. The earlier note said several of those columns could not be read; they can — the table is text, not images, and the tick glyph is a “9”. Two things that look like errors and are not. Maruti fits the 10.66 cm (4.2”) colour MID to Sigma, Delta and Alpha, and the 17.78 cm (7”) one to Zeta, Delta+, Zeta+ and Alpha+ — so the Alpha genuinely gets a smaller instrument display than the cheaper Zeta, taking the head-up display in its place, while the Alpha+ gets both. Our registry has no rung below the 7-inch cluster, so the 4.2-inch unit earns nothing and the Zeta-to-Alpha step correctly shows the cluster as dropped. And the drive-mode selector marked “ALLGRIP Only” is a different row from the strong hybrid’s ECO/Normal/Power drive mode; only the latter is credited. Still not counted: the front wipers are variable intermittent rather than rain-sensing; there is no rear defogger row to pair with the rear wiper, so neither is counted; hill descent control is marked “ALLGRIP Only” and is credited on the two ALLGRIP variants; and the brochure lists no fog lamps of any kind. FUEL TYPE (9 Oct 2026): the three strong-hybrid variants (Delta+, Zeta+, Alpha+ e-CVT) are stored as 'hybrid', the same disposition as the Victoris, the Innova Hycross and the Honda City e:HEV, so the strong hybrid is laddered and matched only against other strong hybrids. The mild-hybrid K15C petrols stay 'petrol'. Road tax is unaffected: the on-road calculator charges a hybrid the petrol rate in every state, which is what it charged these variants before. WIRELESS ANDROID AUTO (9 Oct 2026): Maruti's brochure (NEXA-Grand-Vitara-brochure.pdf) fits the 17.78 cm SmartPlay Pro to Delta and Delta+ and the 22.86 cm SmartPlay Pro+ from Zeta up, and no screen to Sigma; it has no wireless row, but Maruti's own Jimny brochure states both of those named units 'pair wirelessly' via Android Auto, and the Ertiga's list draws the same line (SmartPlay Pro wireless, SmartPlay Studio wired). Read across Maruti's two documents, not from one. TORQUE (13 Oct 2026): Maruti's own brochure (NEXA-Grand-Vitara-brochure.pdf, June 2026) prints 139 Nm @ 4300 for the 1.5 K15C, which is what is stored. Toyota prints 136.8 Nm for the same engine in the Hyryder; each car carries its own maker's printed figure, so the 2 Nm gap on their matchup page is the two documents disagreeing, not a data error. REVERSING CAMERA (re-read 29 Oct 2026): the maker describes the camera without saying its guidelines move with the steering, so the camera entry (moving guidelines) is not credited. THE (O) VARIANTS, added 29 Oct 2026: Zeta(O), Alpha(O), Zeta+(O) and Alpha+(O) are each their twin's equipment plus the panoramic sunroof and nothing else. The June 2026 brochure (p.15) shares one column per pair and its only '(O)'-marked cell is the panoramic sunroof row; Maruti's own per-variant compare data lists the roof 'Yes' on all seven (O) codes and 'No' on every other; and each (O) weighs exactly 15 kg more than its twin. The price of the roof varies by powertrain, from about ₹4,000 on the mild hybrids to ₹58,700 on the Zeta+; those are Maruti's own figures. The earlier objection that ₹14,100 was too little for a panoramic roof no longer stands: the plain Zeta rose ₹10,000 on 27 Sept and the (O) did not. ALLGRIP AND THE PARKING BRAKE, 29 Oct 2026: the Alpha ALLGRIP and Alpha(O) ALLGRIP 6AT are modelled as drivetrain 4wd, each its 2WD Alpha AT twin plus the drive mode selector and hill descent control that the brochure marks 'ALLGRIP Only' (19.20 km/l certified), the same reading as the Victoris AllGrip. The June 2026 brochure marks the electronic parking brake '(AT ONLY)' in the Delta, Zeta and Alpha columns and lists Brake Hold, Maruti's auto hold, as 'AT Only', and NEXA's variant data has the EPB on the automatics, so every mild-hybrid automatic is credited it; the strong hybrids' column is a dash. An older note here read the EPB as ALLGRIP-only.
