Tata Punch EV: which battery to buy
The Tata Punch EV is sold with 2 battery packs. A battery is not equipment, so we never score one pack against another as a trim upgrade. Below is what each pack costs to get into, and — on trims sold with both — what the bigger one costs and how much certified range it adds.

Each battery pack
| Pack | Certified range | Motor | From |
|---|---|---|---|
| 30 kWh · Electric2 variants | Range awaiting certification | 87 bhp / 154 Nm | ₹9,79,000 |
| 40 kWh · Electric4 variants | 468 km per charge (MIDC P1+P2) | 127 bhp / 154 Nm | ₹11,19,000 |
*Ex-showroom, Delhi · Prices checked Nov 2026
What the bigger battery costs, trim for trim
- Smart+: 30 kWh → 40 kWh₹80,000 more ex-showroom for 10 kWh more battery. The two packs are not certified on the same test cycle, so we do not divide one by the other. The bigger-pack car also adds Rear Camera with Dynamic Guidelines, Electronic Parking Brake with Auto Hold, which we value at ₹20,700 of extra equipment — part of the gap is not the battery.
What the Tata Punch EV costs to run
Type the per-unit (₹/kWh) rate from your electricity bill. We do not hold a tariff for your state, so nothing is worked out until you do. The figure per km is each pack's capacity divided by its certified range — a laboratory figure, and charging loses some energy too, so real running costs will be higher.
| Pack | kWh per 100 km | Per km | Per month |

Every row uses the MIDC P1+P2 certified range.
