Tata Punch EV

The upgrade our valuation covers best is Empowered → Empowered+ S on the 40 kWh electric: ₹30,000 buys ₹1,16,840 of equipment — 389% of the price rise, so the kit alone covers what it costs.

Tata's electric Punch, sold from its own Tata.ev range with a 30 kWh or a 40 kWh LFP battery. A separate car from the petrol and CNG Punch, as Tata files it.

Which variant to buy

Where the money buys the most equipment, and where it buys the least

One variant on the Tata Punch EV is covered outright by the kit it adds. Another is mostly paying for something else. Both are computed from the same feature valuations, not chosen by hand.

This is not a recommendation of a trim — it is the variant whose price rise our tracked equipment best explains, and the one it explains worst. A feature you will never use is worth nothing to you, whatever we value it at. Every upgrade, in order.

Tata Punch EV: questions buyers ask

Which Tata Punch EV variant is the best value?

Empowered 40 kWh to Empowered+ S 40 kWh costs ₹30,000, and the equipment it adds is worth ₹1,16,840 — 389% of the price rise. That is the variant upgrade where equipment explains the most of what you pay. The kit alone covers what the variant costs extra. The figure is computed from the feature difference, not chosen.

Which Tata Punch EV variant gives back the least?

Smart+ 40 kWh to Adventure 40 kWh costs ₹75,000, and the equipment it adds is worth ₹28,520 — 38% of the price rise. The rest of that money goes on things we do not itemise — materials, fit and finish, and the manufacturer's own margin.

How many variants does the Tata Punch EV have?

6, across 2 powertrains, from ₹9,79,000 to ₹12,99,000 ex-showroom. Covers all six variants across both battery packs at the outright price — battery-rental (BaaS) pricing is not stored. Tata prints the 30 kWh range as under certification, so no range figure is shown for it.

What is the EMI on the Tata Punch EV?

About ₹17,108 a month for the cheapest variant, Smart 30 kWh: ₹10,36,212 on the road in Delhi, 20% down, and a loan of ₹8,28,970 at 8.75% a year for 5 years. A different rate, tenure or down payment changes it — the EMI calculator works it out for your own figures.

What are the Tata Punch EV's dimensions, boot space and ground clearance?

It is 3,880 mm long, 1,742 mm wide and 1,622 mm tall, on a 2,445 mm wheelbase. Boot space is 366 litres. Ground clearance is 195 mm. These are Tata Motors's own figures.

When was the Tata Punch EV launched?

The Tata Punch EV on sale now, the first generation, was launched in India in Jan 2024. It was last facelifted in Feb 2026: Styling closer to the petrol Punch facelift with a concealed grille and new alloys; new 30 kWh and 40 kWh batteries replace 25 and 35 kWh; battery-as-a-service option added.

Is a new Tata Punch EV or a facelift coming?

Tata Motors has announced nothing, and we found no credible reports of one as of 1 Nov 2026.

What colours does the Tata Punch EV come in?

Tata Motors lists 14 colours: Supernova Copper, Pure Grey, Bengal Rouge, Pristine White, Caramel, Fearless Yellow, Empowered Oxide, Fearless Yellow with Dual Tone, Caramel with Dual Tone, Grey Oxide with Dual Tone, Pristine White with Dual Tone, Supernova Copper with Dual Tone, Bengal Rouge with Dual Tone, Pure Grey with Dual Tone. Not every colour is offered on every variant.

What is the Tata Punch EV's safety rating?

Bharat NCAP (Jul 2026): 5 stars for adult occupant protection and 5 stars for child occupant protection (31.09/32 and 45.00/49 points).

What is the on-road price of the Tata Punch EV?

The cheapest variant, Smart 30 kWh, comes to about ₹10,36,212 on road in Delhi — ₹9,79,000 ex-showroom plus road tax, insurance, registration and TCS where it applies. Road tax is set by the state, so the total moves by a lakh or more between them.

How we checked these figures

Data notes — where these figures come from

Built 11 Oct 2026 from Tata's June 2026 brochure. The persona walk is a single chain (Smart 30 → Smart+ 30/40 → Adventure 40 → Empowered 40 → Empowered+ S 40), each 'in addition to' the one before; 'Smart+ 30 and 40' share a column, with items footnoted '(40kWh only)' credited to the 40 kWh car alone — electronic parking brake with auto hold, hill hold control, camera-based reverse park assist, R16 steel wheels. MOTOR: 65 kW (30 kWh) and 95 kW (40 kWh), 154 Nm on both. A 3.3 kW AC wall box is included ('Charger Type Included'). UNDER-CREDITED: the brochure lists only key differentiating features, so anything it does not state is left off on every trim — notably LED headlamps below Empowered+ S (it lists 'Smart Digital DRLs' at the base and 'Smart LED Headlamps' only on Empowered+ S), steering-mounted controls on Smart, rear AC vents, tilt/telescopic steering and any rear-camera guideline type. The 10.16 cm (4-inch) Smart cluster sits below the lowest digital-cluster rung. iTPMS is an indirect system and does not earn tpms_highline (the petrol Punch call). Regen paddles are not credited as paddle shifters. R15 steel wheels 'with hub cap' are centre caps, not full covers, so Smart and Smart+ earn no wheel rung; Adventure's R16 'hyper-style' steel wheels earn wheel_covers under its definition (styled finish). V2L, multi-level regen and single-pedal drive are not registry features.
