Maruti XL6: which powertrain?
The Maruti XL6 is sold as 3 separate ranges. Pick a trim and this shows what each powertrain costs at that trim, and whether the gearbox brings any equipment with it.

Trim by trim
Each block is one trim level. The cheapest powertrain at that trim is the baseline; every other is shown as what it costs over it.

Maruti XL6 powertrains: common questions
- How many powertrains is the Maruti XL6 sold with?
- 3: Petrol manual, CNG manual, Petrol automatic. The cheapest way into the range is the Zeta 1.5 Petrol MT at ₹11,62,300 ex-showroom, and the dearest entry point is the Zeta 1.5 Petrol AT at ₹12,97,300.
- On the Maruti XL6, does changing powertrain change the equipment?
- Not on the Zeta, which is sold as both the Zeta 1.5 Petrol MT and the Zeta 1.5 CNG MT with identical equipment. The ₹98,500 between them buys the powertrain and nothing else.
- What mileage does each Maruti XL6 powertrain claim?
- Petrol manual: 20.97 kmpl; CNG manual: 26.32 km/kg; Petrol automatic: 20.27 kmpl. These are the manufacturer's certified figures, not our own, and CNG is certified per kilogram rather than per litre — the two numbers are not comparable directly.
- Does CarMaths say when the Maruti XL6's CNG pays for itself?
- Not yet. That answer needs a CNG price we can stand behind in your city, and the CNG figures available to us fail their own consistency check — they swing by twelve rupees between two cities in one state, and in one city they read above petrol. This page gives the price gap and the certified efficiency and leaves the division to you, rather than printing a payback distance that would be wrong.
We do not tell you when CNG pays for itself
The useful answer is a distance — drive this far and the cheaper fuel has repaid the premium. For diesel against petrol we do work it out, in the panel above: it holds this state's pump prices, and where we have a certified efficiency for both sides of the same trim it gives you the premium, the yearly saving and the kilometres at which one repays the other. Change any figure to your own.
CNG is the one we withhold, and it is a sourcing problem rather than an arithmetic one: the CNG prices we could find do not survive their own consistency check — they swing by twelve rupees between two cities in one state, and in one city they read above petrol. A payback distance built on those would be a wrong answer rather than a missing one.
Where a row above reads “—”, the manufacturer publishes no certified efficiency for that powertrain and we store none rather than borrow another's. Type the figure you actually get and the arithmetic follows it.
Everything on this page is the same arithmetic used everywhere else on this site: equipment priced in rupees, against the price difference. What it cannot price is the powertrain itself — a gearbox, a fuel system, running cost, resale or refuelling convenience.
What this car's data leaves out
All seven variants Maruti prices. Left out: the two Alpha Plus Dual Tone paint editions.
Data notes — where these figures come from
Petrol manual, petrol 6AT and CNG manual ladders. The automatic is a six-speed torque converter, not an AMT. Maruti's equipment list gives one column to each trim's MT, AT and CNG forms — that is the manufacturer stating the equipment is identical, not our assumption — so the CNG inherits Zeta's list. What the CNG actually loses (the split luggage board, idle start-stop, brake energy regeneration) is not in our registry, so none of it is charged against it. THE XL6 SEATS SIX. Captain chairs in the second row, against the seven-seat Ertiga, Rumion and Carens Clavis it will be matched with. A third-row seat is worth more to most MPV buyers than anything in our registry, and the equipment totals cannot see it. Read the seat count first. Under-credited rather than guessed: the Arkamys 'Surround Sense' on Alpha and Alpha+ is DSP tuning — the speaker count stays four plus two tweeters across every trim — so it is not credited as a premium branded sound system. The tail lamps are 'Smoke Grey LED with Light Guide' and the brochure does not call them connected, so the connected-tail-lamp feature is not credited even though the Ertiga's are. 'MID with Coloured TFT' is a small display between the dials, not a digital instrument cluster. The 60:40 split rear seat is genuinely absent: captain chairs replace the Ertiga's bench, and the 50:50 third row is a different thing. Maruti's table marks 'Rear Camera' on the Zeta and '—' on Alpha and Alpha+, with the 360-degree system in its place. Read literally that says the dearer trims lose a reversing camera, which is not true of any 360 system — the bird's-eye view is built from one. Both are credited on Alpha and Alpha+, which is also how the other fifteen cars in the catalogue that offer a 360 treat it: 109 variants hold both. The dash there means superseded, not absent. WIRELESS ANDROID AUTO (9 Oct 2026): Maruti's brochure (NEXA-Xl6-Brochure.pdf, page 15) prints 'Wireless' under Alpha and Alpha+ on the Android Auto & Apple CarPlay row, located by coordinate; Zeta is not marked wireless. REVERSING CAMERA (re-read 29 Oct 2026): Maruti says the Alpha and Alpha+ 360 camera has 'steering-based gridlines', which earns the camera entry; the Zeta's plain rear camera has no guideline wording and is not credited.
