MG Astor

The upgrade our valuation covers best is Sharp Pro → Savvy Pro on the Petrol CVT: ₹78,000 buys ₹89,000 of equipment — 114% of the price rise, so the kit alone covers what it costs.

MG's mid-size SUV, the petrol sibling of the ZS EV, unveiled on 15 September 2021. One 1.5-litre VTi-Tech petrol with a five-speed manual or an eight-speed CVT, across Sprint, Shine, Select, Sharp Pro and Savvy Pro.

Which variant to buy

Where the money buys the most equipment, and where it buys the least

One variant on the MG Astor is covered outright by the kit it adds. Another is mostly paying for something else. Both are computed from the same feature valuations, not chosen by hand.

This is not a recommendation of a trim — it is the variant whose price rise our tracked equipment best explains, and the one it explains worst. A feature you will never use is worth nothing to you, whatever we value it at. Every upgrade, in order.

MG Astor: questions buyers ask

Which MG Astor variant is the best value?

Sharp Pro 1.5 Petrol CVT to Savvy Pro 1.5 Petrol CVT costs ₹78,000, and the equipment it adds is worth ₹89,000 — 114% of the price rise. That is the variant upgrade where equipment explains the most of what you pay. The kit alone covers what the variant costs extra. The figure is computed from the feature difference, not chosen.

Which MG Astor variant gives back the least?

Sprint 1.5 Petrol MT to Shine 1.5 Petrol MT costs ₹1,55,000, and the equipment it adds is worth ₹1,20,000 — 77% of the price rise. The rest of that money goes on things we do not itemise — materials, fit and finish, and the manufacturer's own margin.

How many variants does the MG Astor have?

7, across 2 powertrains, from ₹9,79,100 to ₹15,30,100 ex-showroom. Every trim and gearbox MG prices on the 1.5 petrol. Left out: the Blackstorm edition, dual-tone paint and the Savvy Pro 'R' version MG lists ₹20,000 above the Savvy Pro. No fuel-efficiency figure is shown because MG publishes none.

What is the EMI on the MG Astor?

About ₹18,251 a month for the cheapest variant, Sprint 1.5 Petrol MT: ₹11,05,454 on the road in Delhi, 20% down, and a loan of ₹8,84,363 at 8.75% a year for 5 years. A different rate, tenure or down payment changes it — the EMI calculator works it out for your own figures.

What are the MG Astor's dimensions, boot space and ground clearance?

It is 4,323 mm long, 1,809 mm wide and 1,650 mm tall, on a 2,585 mm wheelbase. We hold no ground clearance figure from MG Motor's own documents. The fuel tank holds 48 litres. These are MG Motor's own figures.

When was the MG Astor launched?

The MG Astor on sale now, the first generation, was launched in India in Oct 2021. It has not been facelifted since.

Is a new MG Astor or a facelift coming?

MG Motor has announced nothing, and we found no credible reports of one as of 1 Nov 2026.

What colours does the MG Astor come in?

MG Motor lists 5 colours: Havana Grey, Aurora Silver, Glaze Red, Candy White, Starry Black. Not every colour is offered on every variant.

What is the MG Astor's safety rating?

The current MG Astor has not been crash-tested by Bharat NCAP or Global NCAP yet.

What is the on-road price of the MG Astor?

The cheapest variant, Sprint 1.5 Petrol MT, comes to about ₹11,05,454 on road in Delhi — ₹9,79,100 ex-showroom plus road tax, insurance, registration and TCS where it applies. Road tax is set by the state, so the total moves by a lakh or more between them.

How we checked these figures

Data notes — where these figures come from

Prices from MG's own Astor page, the 'Starts From' variant cards, read 29 Oct 2026, which match MG's own price service and the brochure's price list (effective 2 January 2026, ex-showroom) to the rupee on all seven. VARIANTS: the brochure's engine-and-trim plan sells the manual on Sprint, Shine, Select and Sharp Pro and the CVT on Select, Sharp Pro and Savvy Pro, which is the seven held. The Savvy Pro is shown with an Ivory and a Sangria Red interior at the same price; the brochure calls these interior themes, so one variant is held. LEFT OUT: dual-tone paint (₹20,000 on the brochure's list); the Blackstorm, which appears only as a picture on MG's page and has no price; and a 'Savvy Pro R' row in MG's price service at ₹15,50,100, ₹20,000 above the Savvy Pro, which MG's page does not show and does not explain. The 1.3 turbo automatic of the 2021 launch is no longer sold. A line on the Shine card about an electric parking brake '(CVT)' is not read as a Shine CVT, which neither the price list nor the trim plan contains. ENGINE: MG prints 110 PS at 6000 rpm and 144 Nm at 4400 rpm from 1498 cc; 110 PS is converted at 0.986 to 108 bhp. MG prints no certified fuel efficiency, so none is stored. NO GRADE WALK: the brochure is a five-column grid, not an 'X over Y' chain, so frequentlyComparedPairs is empty. GEARBOX-QUALIFIED CELLS: the electric parking brake with auto hold and the wireless charger are marked '(CVT)' on Select, Sharp Pro and Savvy Pro, and are credited to the CVT versions only. MAPPING: the 25.7 cm (10.1-inch) touchscreen at the 9-inch level; the 17.78 cm cluster from Select at the 7-inch level (the 8.9 cm multi-info display on Sprint and Shine earns no cluster credit); the 6-way powered driver's seat on Sharp Pro and Savvy Pro at the 4-way level; the man-made perforated leather from Select earns the leatherette entry; the 6-way manual seat on Sprint to Select is read as height-adjustable. Level 2 ADAS and the blind-spot monitor are Savvy Pro only (adaptive cruise, lane keep assist, emergency braking, blind spot detection). Fog lamps are 'Front Fog Lamp with Cornering Assist' from Shine with no LED stated, so the lower level. Rear power windows from the brochure's 'All Power Windows' row. NOT CREDITED, each because the brochure says less than our entry needs: the reversing camera from Shine (no guideline type stated); the TPMS from Select (type not stated; the connected 'critical tyre pressure' alert is not a per-tyre readout); the Sprint's R16 steel wheels (no covers stated); 'Power Foldable ORVM' from Select (not automatic folding); 'Tilt Steering' (no reach); the PM2.5 filter; and the three steering modes, which are not drive modes. No manual day/night mirror is listed below Sharp Pro, so none is credited. ROOF RAILS (29 Oct 2026): the maker lists roof rails and does not describe them as a garnish or styling element, so they are credited under the same rule as every other car; no load rating is published.
